Self-reported cocaine use in 613 methadone-maintained patients during the 30 days prior to the interview differed significantly with the prescribed methadone dose (mg/ day) (Kruskal-Wallis Test; χ2 = 15.963; df = 2; p < 0.001). Patients in the low dose group reported significantly less cocaine use compared to the medium dose group (Mann–Whitney; Z = −3.915; p < 0.001) and the high dose group (Mann–Whitney; Z = −2.058; p < 0.05).
